Enhanced trailer technologies available for the 2021 GMC Sierra include Trailer Length Indicator, Jack-knife Alert, Rear View now feature guideline and Trailer-angle Indicator, Rear Side View enhancement and the Cargo Bed View Enhancement.
- Trailer Length Indicator: This feature has not been seen on the Sierra before, it’s new for the 2021 model year. When this feature is enabled and driving forward with the turn signal activated, the center console screen displays a red overlay twice the length of the compatible trailer and shows when other vehicles are present.
- Jack-Knife Alert: This is also a new feature for the 2021 model year. It tracks the position of the compatible trailer in relation to the vehicle. An alert is displayed when there may be a potential jack Knife situation if the front of the trailer approaches the rear of the vehicle.
- Rear Trailer View now features guidelines and Trailer-Angle Indicator: This feature is a carried over feature but it has been enhanced to include guidelines that assist when backing a trailer into place and the trailer-Angle indicator shows the relationship between the truck and compatible trailer.
- Rear Side View Enhancement: Rear Side View provides a split view of the left and right sides of the truck and compatible trailer when driving forward.
- Cargo Bed View enhancement: the 2021 GMC Sierra is debuting with new Cargo Bed Zoom and Bed Hitch Guidance. This feature helps in aligning and hooking up a gooseneck/fifth-wheel trailer.

Its fuel efficiency is rated at 30 mpg on the highway and 600 miles of range on 2WD models. With the introduction of the new engine, the MSRP of the popular engine will be reduced by $1,500.
The 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel adds up to 1,900 pounds of trailering capacity on 2WD configurations with a maximum trailering capacity of 9,300 pounds, while the 2.7L Turbo adds 2,300 pounds of trailering capacity to nearly every configuration with a maximum trailering capacity of 9,200 pounds.

The 2021 GMC Sierra Heavy comes with HD Surround Vision and Bed View camera technology as standard features. A new Sierra HD Denali Black Diamond Edition has several unique features, they include exclusive 20-inch high gloss black wheels and new power-retractable assist steps.
The Sierra Heavy Duty AT4 will debut with 18-inch Mud Terrain tires and an available off-road high clearance step accessory. Other additional options include making the MultiPro Tailgate standard on SLE and three new colors.
