Third Mercedes EQ launch in 2021

While the first EQA 250 (NEDC combined electrical consumption: 15.7 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km)3 roll into European dealerships and the EQS, the purpose-designed, fully electric member of the new S-Class family, is being presented, the China-specific version of the new EQB will be making its debut in Shanghai. It will be produced in Beijing and comes to market in China later this year.

The European version will also be launched in 2021, and in the USA the EQB will arrive in 2022. The electrical consumption of the EQB 350 4MATIC in Europe, NEDC3: combined electrical consumption: 16.2 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km, range 478 km; WLTP4: combined electrical consumption: 19.2-18.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km, range up to 419 km.

Electro design aesthetics

The all-new EQB interprets Mercedes-EQ’s Progressive Luxury in an edgy and characterful way. A Mercedes-EQ black panel grille with a central star adorns the front. Mercedes also added the continuous light strip at the front and rear.

The function-oriented greenhouse with an upright windscreen makes a comfortable interior possible.

Navigation
The standard Navigation with Electric Intelligence contributes to the effortless handling of the EQB. The new navigation system calculates the fastest route to the destination, taking into account the maximum charging power and the duration of possible charging stops.

The new system also ensures that the high-voltage battery is brought to an optimal charging temperature before a planned charging stop.
Mercedes Me Charge

Mercedes guarantees that energy from renewable energy sources is fed into the grid charging current sourced via Mercedes me Charge. Customers can charge at over 200,000 public charging stations across Europe with Mercedes me Charge.
Sophisticated charging technology, large network, and green power
The EQB can be conveniently charged up to 11 kW with alternating current using an onboard charger. The charging time required for a full charge depends on the available infrastructure and the country-specific vehicle equipment. Mercedes-Benz Wallbox charges faster than charging with a household socket.

The all-new EQB can charge from 10-80% in just 30 minutes at a direct current (DC) fast-charging station. In Europe, the EQB is equipped with a CCS (Combined Charging Systems) connector in the right-hand side panel for both AC and DC charging. In China, a country-specific charging solution with sockets on the right and left in the sidewall is used, charging times may also vary as compared with the European version.
Mercedes me Charge gives users access to over 500,000 AC and DC charging stations of different providers across 31 countries.
High level of crash system
It also features intelligent driving assistance with cooperative support for the driver. Active Lane-keeping Assist and Active Brake Assist are fitted as standard. It can prevent a collision or reduce its severity with autonomous braking.
The system is also able to brake for stationary vehicles and crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds. The enhanced functions of the Driving Assistance Package include, for example, the turning maneuver function, the emergency corridor function, the exit warning function alerting the driver to approaching cyclists or vehicles, and a warning when pedestrians are detected near zebra crossings.

The EQB like I said earlier is built on a robust bodyshell structure of the GLB, the body was adapted to the special requirements of an electric car.
Its battery sits within the frame made out of extruded sections. This takes on a structural function which until now was maintained by the cross members in the underfloor. To prevent the energy storage unit from being pierced by foreign objects, a battery guard has been added in the front area of the battery.
The car has passed through the brand’s usual extensive crash test program, this makes the car safe to drive.
Production of the 2022 Mercedes-EQB
The production of the 2022 Mercedes- Benz EQB will kick off in 2021 at two sites forming part of the production network of Mercedes-Benz cars.

The compact SUV will be the first purely electrically powered production vehicle from Hungary and will also be produced with a plug-in hybrid drive at Kecskemét in the future as well as at the German Mercedes-Benz plant in Rastatt, where the EQA is built.
