2022 Mercedes Benz GLE 300 is debuting with diesel mild hybrids
Gradually, Mercedes Benz is moving its models to the green platform. The company recently unveiled the electric G-Wagon concept, today they just unveiled the 2022 GLE with diesel mild hybrids. This is the first time this change is coming to the GLE class. I will be reviewing the specifications and price of the 2022 Mercedes Benz GLE 300 d 4MATIC SUV and GLE 300 d 4MATIC coupe in Nigeria.
The new GLE 300 d 4MATIC and GLE 300 4MATIC Coupe offers optimum power delivery with lesser fuel consumption when compared with its predecessor. They come equipped with the current four-cylinder diesel engine with an integrated second-generation starter generator (ISG). They produce 272 hp.

The engine
The current engine is equipped with a second-generation integrated starter-generator (ISG). The ISG includes the 48-volt electrical system. this ensures that functions such as gliding, boost or recuperation, and fuel savings. The ISG starts the engine very quickly and comfortably so that the start-stop function is almost imperceptible. The same applies to the transition from gliding with the engine off to powerful propulsion with engine power. The intelligent interaction between the ISG and the combustion engine ensures outstanding smooth running when idling.
In terms of exhaust gas after treatment, the four-cylinder diesel engine is very advanced for that. The NOx storage catalytic converter stores nitrogen oxides, especially under cold-start conditions, so that they can be reduced in the SCR catalytic converter when the engine is warm. Particulate emission is reduced by the specially coated DPF (diesel particulate filter). The two active SCR catalytic converters with metered AdBlue injection allow effective nitrogen oxide reduction in all operating ranges. These converters are installed close to the engine and on the floor of the vehicle.
Drivetrain
There is an improvement in the All-Wheel Drive. the GLE 300 d 4MATIC and GLE 300 d 4MATIC Coupe now has a transfer case with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. This allows a variable transfer of drive torque from 0-100 percent between the axles.
The fully networked transfer case with Torque on Demand also allows an improvement in driving safety and agility on the road, especially when cornering. This is achieved by specifically influencing the yaw moment to induce vehicle oversteer or understeer.
