The exterior of the all-new 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 is characterized by a redesigned front end, side, and rear end. At the front is the MAYBACH name subtly illuminated within the grille and the Mercedes-Benz star, which can also be illuminated. Its new headlamp design further sharpens its appearance. The headlamp and the grille are connected by a sleek black panel. All grades also feature air inlets adorned with the Maybach pattern.

At the rear is a new taillight and a redesigned tailgate. Three-dimensional star motifs, each framed in chrome, characterize the taillights and underscore the unmistakable Maybach identity.

The boards retract seamlessly into the side sill panel once the doors close.

Night Series package

Customers who desire a more distinctive look can opt for the Maybach Night Series design and Exterior Design package. This package adds a wide range of options, including dark chrome elements, 23-inch Midnight Series wheels, a variety of color options, ambient lighting on the interior, and many more.

The interior of the new 2027 Maybach GLS 680 wasn’t left out in the redesign; new elements were added to elevate its cabin experience. On the dash is a new MBUX Superscreen for infotainment and entertainment. The driver display features Rose Gold dials, casting reflections across the surface like light shining through fine jewelry.

On either side of the superscreen are the new illuminated outer climate control air vents. These vents replace conventional fins with freely moving gondolas that direct airflow precisely while contributing to the sculptural appearance on the dashboard.

Rear seat occupants weren’t left out; the rear Executive Seats feature a new massage function that extends to the calf rests.

Audio system

For the 2027 model year, all GLS 680 are equipped with Burmester 3D Surround Sound System with Dolby Atmos as standard. The system has been enhanced with two additional surround speakers in the rear cabin, combined with a more powerful 710-watt amplifier. This brings the total number of speakers to 15, thereby expanding the acoustic range within the cabin and offering a richer sound experience for the occupants.

Engine and performance

The powertrain of the 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 has been electrified. The luxury SUV is powered by a twin-turbo eight-cylinder engine (M 177 Evo) producing an impressive 630 hp and 627 lb of torque. When compared with its predecessor (2026 Maybach GLS 600), its power output increased by 53 hp and torque by 89 lb-ft. Two Lanchester balance shafts have also been added to offer more refinement.

Mercedes-Maybach equipped the SUV with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that adds 23 hp of boost, coasting, and recuperation.

Revised steering and new AIRMATIC with intelligent cloud-based damper control

The latest MBUX system and AI system

Mercedes-Maybach incorporated an AI system powered by the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). This system uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) for advanced processing architecture, offering over-the-air updates for the entire vehicle software, keeping the SUV up to date at all times.

On the dashboard is a new standard MBUX Superscreen consisting of three 12.3-inch digital displays, positioned under a large, seamless glass surface. The Zero Layer displays the most relevant information, recently used apps, and suggestions. Customers can also arrange and group apps into personalized folders for easy access. Tons of apps are available, ranging from audio, video, productivity, and entertainment.

A smart MBUX Virtual Assistant integrates AI from ChatGPT, Microsoft, and Google, including Microsoft Bing Search and Google Gemini. This enables the intelligent assistant to engage in complex, multi-part conversations and has short-term memory.
