 Jeep has unveiled its first-ever fully electric car named the Avenger in Paris. The Avenger packs Jeep DNA into a compact SUV with a unique combination of capability, style, functionality, and technology to satisfy customers’ needs. The 2023 Avenger is produced in the highly efficient Stellantis plant in Tychy, Poland. Three minutes of charge using a 100 kW Mode 4 cable in direct current connected to fast public charge can provide a travel distance of 30 km, while 24 minutes is enough to charge the batteries from 20 to 80% of charge.  An all-electric powertrain

 The all-new 2023 Jeep Avenger debuted with an all-electric powertrain that produces 156 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. The new Avenger comes standard with the second generation 400 Volt electric powertrain which is the first one to be launched by E-motors, a joint venture between Stellantis and Nidec Leroy-Somer Holding.

 High energy intensity and an excellent ratio between nominal and usable energy are brought about by the in-house new 54 kWh battery. The battery pack is made up of 17 modules and 102 cells utilizing NMC 811 Lithium-Ion chemistry and delivers 400 km of range in the WLTP cycle, which becomes 550 km in the urban cycle.

Jeep adopted a high ground clearance and underbody skid plates to protect the battery located under the front and rear seats and the central tunnel during off-road driving. The battery has been tested for over 2 million kilometers, and it’s extremely compact.

A three-minute charge with a 100 kW Mode 4 cable directly connected to a fast public charge is enough to travel a distance of 30 Km, charging for 24 minutes will take the car from 20 to 80%. Charging is super simple, fast, and sweet.

 An 11 kW Mode 3 cable for alternating current connected to a Wallbox or Public station can fill the SUV from 0 to 100% in 5.5 hours.

The new electric Avenger is the first front-wheel drive vehicle produced by Jeep to come standard with Selec-Terrain and Hill Descent Control. Six modes are offered in the Selec-Terrain, they include Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud, and Sand. Normal mode is for your everyday driving, the Eco mode is for enhanced range, the Sport as the name implies is for a more sporty and faster journey, and the Snow is specially designed to aid the SUV when navigating through icy roads or trails, the Mud mode is designed to optimize the SUV’s performance in muddy terrain, and the Sand which is the sixth mode is designed for easy navigation through sandy soil.

 The design

The front of the electric SUV features the iconic 7-slot grille which is an authentic Jeep brand signature. A bent-over grille is positioned in front of the headlamps to protect them in case of impact. The bulging fenders, another classic Jeep design element, offer a sense of strength and robustness while communicating a solid and imposing presence on the road.

The interior design

On the inside, Jeep made out time to design it to match the new electric drivetrain. The interior features a dashboard where a single horizontal function beam which includes all the air vents, ambient lighting, and a centrally located 10.25 inches touchscreen, which is strategically positioned for both the driver and the passenger to see. A wide-open storage shell is added to the lower side of the dashboard.

The all-new Avenger also comes with premium seats with leather inserts that are electronically adjustable with a massage function, multi-color ambient light which reduces the strain on eyes during night driving, and a wide sunroof. For greater protection and safety, the vehicle’s side lights remain visible when the rear hatch opens.

 Jeep designed the center console to maximize available usable space for drivers and passenger. The new Avenger EV comes with the biggest interior space in its category, the front features 34 liters of storage.

The Avenger EV comes with a 380 liters storage capacity in the truck as well as a hands-free power liftgate which is not usual in the segment.

 Technology and connectivity

Standard on the 2023 Jeep Avenger is the 10.25-inch radio screen Uconnect Infotainment combined with a full digital cluster which is available in 7 and 10.25 inches variants.

 The Uconnect features smartphone-like graphics. The system offers the possibility to physically mirror one’s device on the radio via wireless Android Auto and CarPlay; mix and match content to build your interface (up to twelve widgets per page, up to six pages); embedded navigation by TomTom with enhanced natural voice recognition; and over-the-air updates.

 With the new Jeep Mobile app, users can locate the location of their cars directly from their smartphones, users can also lock and unlock their doors, check battery levels, see the climate functions, recharge the vehicle, as well as interact directly with the Avenger through a vocal assistant.

  Safety systems

The all-new Jeep Avenger comes with an array of driving assistance technology. It boasts of level 2 autonomous driving which automatically adjusts speed and trajectory, and makes use of Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering.

These safety systems provide support to the driver to help the vehicle follow the lane and to remain in the center of the lane and at a safe distance from the vehicle preceding it to provide a serene driving experience. Level 2 autonomous driving also includes Traffic Jam Assist, for a relaxed and comfortable drive even in case of heavy traffic.

 The new model also offers Traffic Sign Recognition, which reads and interprets road signs; Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, which slows the vehicle down to a halt to mitigate the risk of possible accidents; Drowsy Driver Alert, which alerts the driver when a moment of drowsiness affects attention; Blind Spot Monitoring which monitors a driver’s blind spot; Lane Keeping Assist, which alerts the driver when the car has gone out of the lane; 360° parking sensors with Active Park Assist (late availability); and 180° rear camera with drone view.
