Engine and performance
The S 580e is powered by a combination of a 3.0L inline 6 six-cylinder engine and a 21.5kWh battery and a permanently excited synchronous electric motor with an internal rotor. The internal combustion engine produces 367 hp, while the battery and electric motor produce 148 hp to create a combined total output of 510 hp. It comes with a top speed of 155 mph.
For the 2024 model year, the Plug-in Hybrid S 580e comes with an electric range of 100 kilometers according to WLTP, that’s double when compared with previous models. 369 lb-ft of torque is available right from the start, resulting in high agility along with dynamic driving performance, thanks to the electric motor. The battery is strategically positioned to give more room for luggage.
Charging
Standard across the grade is a 9.6 kW charger for both home and public charging centers, an optional 60 kW DC charger is also available for fast charging. The 60 kW DC charger can charge the car from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes.

- The calf massage function in the rear stimulates circulation and helps to prevent fatigue.
Suspension of the 2024 S 580e
For the 2024 model year, the optional E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL active suspension is now available, and when combined with the standard AIRMATIC air suspension it offers even more driving comfort and agility.
The E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL works in tandem with the ROAD SURFACE SCAN and the CURVE cornering function to deliver an increased level of comfort.
E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL is available for those models which are equipped with an onboard electrical system since it operates on 48 volts.
