First-generation [1994-2005]
The first-generation Avalon made its debut at the Chicago International Auto Show, it was later launched in late 1994 for the 1995 model year. Initial development began under the 299T project code, the design phase was concluded in 1991 with internal approval of the final design.
On 17th February 1992, he design patents was filed with the Japanese Patent under the patent number 0890183. It was built in the same plant as the Camry. The Avalon was powered by a 3.0-liter 1MZ-FE V6 engine that is equipped with VVT-I. It produced a whooping 210 hp and torque of 220 lb.ft. The engine was paired to a 4-speed automatic.
The production of the second-generation Avalon started in September 1999 ahead of the 2000 model year. The standard features include electroluminescent Optitron gauges, 4-wheel disc ABS, front torso side airbags, and 15″ alloy wheels. Available options were JBL audio system, a navigation system, Vehicle Stability Control, and a front-row bench seat that can allow up to six passengers.
Third generation [XX30; 2004-2012]
The Avalon underwent a redesign for 2005. It debuted at the 2005 North American International Auto Show in January. In February 2005, it went on sale in Europe and Japan. Reports have it that the company cut down the Avalon’s production time from 29.5 months to 18 months.
This generation was the first Toyota to use Dual VVT-I in the US market in an all-new 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6 engine that met ULEV certification and had a power output of 280 hp. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.0 seconds.
The 2006 model year debuted with vehicle stability Control to XL and Touring trim levels. In 2007, Toyota added tire pressure monitoring as standard on all trims.

The fourth-generation Toyota Avalon [2012-2018]
The fourth-generation Toyota Avalon was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show in April 2012. It was based on the same platform as the Lexus ES. A new grille was introduced with redesigned lights that were now similar to the Camry. It went on sale in the US at the beginning of December 2012.
