The first production of Toyota Tundra started at Toyota plant in Princeton, Indiana, production was consolidated in 2008 to Toyota’s San Antonio, Texas factory. This is the first and only full-size truck manufactured in Texas.
The production of Toyota Tundra started in May 1999 ahead of the 2000 model. Toyota Tundra was nominated for the North American Truck of the year award and Motor Trend magazine of the year award in 2000 and 2008.

First-generation of Toyota Tundra.
The production of first-generation Tundra started in May 1999 and ended in December 2006. The standard features include a 3.4-liter V6 engine that produced 190hp and a torque of 300N.m. The first generation Toyota Tundra had the highest initial vehicle sales for Toyota in its history.
They were three engine variants in the first generation Tundra which included a 24V 3.4 LITER engine that produced 190hp and a torque of 300N.m, and a 32 valve 4.7-liter “i-Force” V8 engine that produced 245 hp and 427 N.m of torque.
In 2000 – 2003, a Toyota Racing Development TRD supercharger was available for the 3.4-liter V6 engine, this increased the power to 260 hp and a torque of 353 N.m.
So many editions were produced which include a Darrel Waltrip Edition which was produced in 2006 to honor the NASCAR driver and his participation in the NASCAR truck series. Only 2000 V8 powered double cab models were produced.
Another special edition is the T3 Special Edition that was produced in 2003 and sold in conjunction with the release of the Terminator 3 movie. This edition included a TRD performance package, a “T3” badging, blacked-out grille and trim pieces, special 17-inch wheels, and T3 limited interior trim.

Second-generation Toyota Tundra.
Toyota Tundra has only seen only two generations, the first generation started from 2000 to 2006 while the second generation started in 2007 till the present. The second-generation Tundra was designed by Craig Kember (2003, 2004) and Matt Sperling (facelift: 2011). Matt designed the new Tundra with the facelift in 2011. The body styles are 2-door Regular-cab, 4-door Double Cab, and 4-door Crewmax.
In 2006, a new and larger Tundra was introduced at the February 2006 Chicago Auto Show ahead of the 2007 model year. The towing capacity of the new truck was rated at 10,000 lb, and a payload capacity of over 2,000 lb. Anew 5.7-liter V8 engine was introduced and is mated to a new 6-speed automatic transmission.
The second-generation Toyota Tundra featured three different engine variants which include: a 5.7-liter engine that produces 381 hp and a torque of 544 N.m, a 4.7-liter V8 engine that produces 276 hp and a torque of 424 N.m, and the previous 4.0 liter that produces a power of 236 hp and a torque of 361 N,m.
In 2014 a new and upgraded Toyota Tundra was unveiled on February 7, 2013, at the Chicago Auto Show. This new Tundra featured a redesigned larger grille, more enhanced fenders front and rear, a redesigned tailgate and taillights, as well as a completely redesigned interior.
