What’s new in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUVs?
For the 2023 model year, Mercedes-Benz added a range of new equipment and features which include redesigned LED headlamps that connect directly to the radiator grille, a new floating 12.3-inch digital instrument panel along with an 11.9-inch central display that rises seamlessly from the center console, and a new, more powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a second generation integrated starter generator (ISG).
Exterior design
Customers will enjoy the redesigned standard LED headlamps which connect directly to the radiator grille to emphasize the vehicle’s width. To create a balance between elegance and off-road performance, Mercedes-Benz designed the body of the SUVs with precisely shaped edges on the sides to accentuate the muscular wheel arches.
For the first time in the GLC SUV history, the AMG Line package provides an even more dynamic aesthetic with a wheel arch available in the body and the Mercedes-Benz star pattern included on the radiator grille.
Interior design
The interior features a new floating 12.3-inch digital panel along with an 11.9-inch central display that rises seamlessly from the center console and is slightly angled toward the driver. Standard across all grades is the latest generation Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system makes it easy to control comfort and vehicle functions, including the new “Transparent Hood”, available with Surround View in the GLC 300 4MATIC. The “Transparent Hood” shows a virtual view of the front of the vehicle on the central display, including the front wheels and their steering position, enabling the driver to recognize obstacles in their path when the off-road mode is active at low speeds.
Customers can choose from a choice of 13 available upholsteries in MB-Tex, leather, and Nappa leather, as well as several new trims, including Glossy Brown Ash Wood, Natural Grain Black Wood with Aluminum Lines, and Metal Weave.
Engine, power, and performance
For the 2023 model year, Mercedes-Benz added a new, more powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a second-generation integrated starter generator (ISG) and 48-volt mild hybrid system. The new powertrain delivers 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque- an increase of 22 lb-ft of torque compared to the 2022 GLC SUV.
Up to an additional 23 hp and torque of 148 lb-ft is provided by the 48-volt mild hybrid system under certain driving conditions, as well as allows gliding with the engine switched off and recuperation for increased efficiency.
