The exterior design
The luxury full-size SUV can be recognized at first glance by the striking radiator grille and the four louvers which are finished in Silver Shadow. On the front, the SUV features a front bumper with integrated air inlet grilles, combined with a surround in high-gloss black, and a redesigned front underride guard.
The rear was not left out in the touch, on the rear, Mercedes added new LED taillights showcasing a light signet formed by three horizontal blocks.
The interior design
For the 2024 model year, the GLS SUV still retains its seating configurations for six or seven passengers. Customers have options to choose from the two new leather upholstery options – Catalana Beige and Bahia Brown. The new High-Gloss Brown Linden Wood brought a revision to the interior color options range. MANUFAKTUR Piano Lacquer Flowing Lines, previously reserved for the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600, is now also available for the GLS family from Mercedes-Benz. Another new detail familiar from the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is the Silver Shadow finish of the center and side climate control vents.
Latest Mercedes Benz User Experience system (MBUX) on the 2024 GLS
A touchscreen central display is strategically mounted on the dashboard to project information about the SUV. Three display styles (Classic, Sporty, Discreet) and three modes (Navigation, Assistance, and Service) are available on the touchscreen display system. In the “Classic” style, only relevant information is displayed. The “Sporty ” style can be recognized instantly by its red accents and dynamic design for the central tachometer. The “Discreet” style only displays the most essential information.
Seven color schemes in conjunction with ambient lighting are available on both displays to offer an impressive color experience in the interior.
Off-Road Mode
The “Off-Road Mode” in the current MBUX generation turns special content such as gradient, lateral inclination, compass, and steering angle into a visual experience. Thanks to the standard Surround View system with a 360-degree camera, it offers the “transparent hood” function. When the Off-Road mode is active, the central display shows a virtual view under the front of the vehicle. This enables the driver to recognize obstacles in their path such as large rocks or deep potholes sooner and more easily.
Standard Off-Road Engineering Package for the 2024 GLS 580 4MATIC, includes an underride guard, in combination with the SUV’s standard AIRMATIC suspension which provides 1.2 inches more ground clearance.
Towing
The luxury SUV’s all-wheel drive and gear are designed for pulling a load of up to 7,716 lbs and a tongue weight of up to 309 lbs. For increased safety, while towing, the company included a Trailer Maneuvering Assist and the updated Trailer menu in the central display.
