Available grades
The all-new 2026 Toyota Hilux is offered in a variety of variants, including diesel, petrol, hybrid, and all-electric grades.
Exterior design of the 2026 Toyota Hilux

The front design of the 2026 Toyota Hilux was spearheaded by the Toyota Australia design team and was developed in collaboration with Toyota team members in Thailand and Japan. The front is characterized by slim-line headlights and sharp lines.

Interior design
The cabin wasn’t left in the redesign; all grades are equipped with a three-tiered dashboard for improved visibility, especially when off-roading. All grades are equipped with a new 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen display sitting above the centre console. An option of a 7.0-inch or 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is also available on the lineup.

The new multimedia system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, embedded satellite navigation, voice command, and expanded Toyota Connected Services functionality.
Customers will now enjoy more comfort, thanks to the newly developed front and rear seats, with up to an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support adjustment. Depending on the grade, some grades are finished with leather-accented upholstery.

Below the 12.3-inch touchscreen display is the climate control panel, offering simple and intuitive use with large physical buttons or knobs. These large buttons allow the driver to keep their eyes on the road ahead.

Ergonomics on the model has greatly improved with the redesign of the steering wheel with an updated button layout. The new button layout is grouped into three distinct zones – infotainment, audio, and driver assistance- with steering heating function available on premium grades.

All grades now feature a new electric power steering for improved feel, responses, and ease of use in all driving conditions. This feature also improves the functionality of the lane-keeping systems in the HiLux for safe driving on the open road.
Suspension systems
The suspension wasn’t left out in the redesign. A new two-tiered suspension tuned with springs and dampers is standard across all grades for improved comfort and handling.

The front is equipped with a revised independent coil-sprung suspension, while the rear features a rigid axle leaf-sprung suspension as standard. A spring and shock absorber tuned for carrying heavy loads and towing is standard on the WorkMate and SR grades, while the SR5 is equipped with different spring rates and suspension stroke to provide enhanced ride comfort for everyday use.
Available powertrains
For the 2026 model year, all grades are available in an option of 4X2 and 4X4 configurations. A new electric powertrain is joining the model lineup for the first time in the history of the Toyota Hilux. Each axle of the all-electric model is equipped with an electric motor, powered by a lithium-ion battery.
Diesel grades are also available on the lineup, including a 2.8-turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine. When fitted with a six-speed automatic transmission, it produces maximum power output of 150 kW and 500 Nm of torque, and 420 Nm of torque when mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
A variety of petrol engine options are available, including 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines.
All grades are equipped with 4X4 grades using a part-time system with high and low range ratios. For the 2026 model year, this has been enhanced with the standard fitment of a rear locking differential and the Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) traction control system on automatic SR5 4X4 grades and above.
Chassis
The new 2026 Toyota HiLux is built on a refined ladder-frame platform offering improved comfort, rigidity, and crash performance, including new hydraulic engine mounts and shear-type cabin mounts. This reduces vibrations and enhances ride comfort.
Safety and driver assistance technologies
All grades come standard with a variety of enhanced safety and driver assistance systems offered by the latest Toyota Safety Sense driver-assistance technology suite. This updated system includes a pre-collision safety autonomous emergency braking system, active cruise control, lane departure alert, lane trace assist, road sign assist (speed signs only), and auto high beam.

Others include blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, and, on pick-up grades, front and rear parking sensors.
SR5 grades and up come standard with Multi-Terrain Monitor, which uses a suite of cameras around the vehicle to offer drivers a range of views of the vehicle’s surroundings and underbody, along with the placement of the wheels to allow for safe navigation of difficult obstacles.
For the first time in the history of HiLux, the ninth generation features a new cabin detection alert system. This system uses radar to detect passengers in the rear seats and notify the occupants when exiting the vehicle.
Toyota Connected Services
All grades are equipped with Toyota Connected Services technology, offering a range of safety and convenience functions that are accessible through a smartphone app.
