The Toyota Crown Advanced Technology package available on the Limited grade now includes:

  • Traffic Jam Assist: Provides hands-free control of steering, braking, and acceleration on controlled-access freeways. At speeds under 25 mph and under certain conditions, Traffic Jam Assist will activate to help ease the stress of stop-and-go traffic. (Requires Drive Connect trial or subscriptions)
  • Lane Change Assist: Toyota Crown’s available Lane Change Assist is designed to help you safely change lanes in traffic by partially engaging the turn signal, detecting any vehicles in your way, and providing steering assistance into the next lane.
  • Front Cross Traffic Alert: Front Cross-Traffic Alert is designed to detect vehicles that may be approaching from the side so you can enter traffic at intersections with added safety.

The top-of-the-line Platinum grade comes standard with everything on XLE and Limited grades. Standard features on the grade include a Hybrid Max powertrain, Full-Time Electronic All-Wheel Drive, Adaptive Variable Suspension, six selectable drive modes, Advanced Park, 21-inch machined 10-spoke alloy wheels with black accents, and the available bi-tone paint option. Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, and Front Cross Traffic Alert are available as an option on the Limited grade and are standard on the Platinum grade.

Hybrid powertrain and drive modes

The 2024 Toyota debuted with the Hybrid MAX system which is designed to deliver smooth acceleration for a 0 – 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds, while also reducing fuel consumption with an EPA-estimated 30 MPG combined rating.

Drive modes of the 2024 Toyota Crown

Standard on the Hybrid MAX system is the 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo engine, tuned to generate a peak torque of 2000 – 3000 RPM, with a front electric motor that helps to maximize torque production. At the rear wheel eAxle is the high-output water-cooled electric motor coupled with the hybrid system to directly transmit force to all four wheels.

The second hybrid powertrain on the lineup, the Toyota Hybrid System, combines a high-efficiency 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine with two electric motors. The gas engine employs Variable Valve Intelligence by Electric motor (VVT-iE) on the intake camshaft, and VVT-i on the exhaust camshaft.

Two transmission systems are available for the 2024 model year, a direct shift six-speed automatic transmission exclusive to the Platinum grade and an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) which is standard on the XLE and Limited grades.

A range of drive modes are available on the model, they include NORMAL, ECO, SPORT, and EV mode. SPORT mode improves and sharpens throttle response, making hybrid driving more fun. ECO mode changes the throttle and environmental logic to help the driver focus on maximizing mileage from the fuel and battery, while NORMAL mode is ideal for everyday driving. Additionally, an EV (Electric Vehicle) mode allows electric-only driving at low speeds for short distances.

The Hybrid MAX powertrain on the Platinum grade adds three more comprehensive drive mode selections, they include SPORT+, COMFORT, and CUSTOM.

Standard All-Wheel Drive across all 2024 Toyota Crown grades

Toyota’s Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive system is standard on the XLE and Limited grades, while the Platinum comes standard with a Full-time Electronic All-Wheel Drive system.

The Electronic On-Demand AWD on the XLE and Limited grade employs a separate rear-mounted electric motor that powers the rear wheels when needed instead of using a transfer case and driveshaft. This brings about stable performance by driving the rear wheels with an electric motor when needed in slippery conditions. The front and rear wheel driving force distribution is controlled to the front and rear wheels between 100:0 and 20:80, for enhanced fuel efficiency and comfortable driving performance.

Standard on the Platinum grade is the Full Time Electronic AWD paired with Hybrid Max that delivers power to the front and rear wheels via a front mounted hybrid motor and a rear-mounted, eAxle electric motor. The system adjusts between a 70:30 and 20:80 front- and rear-wheel power split, depending on the driving situation. This new AWD system enhances the driving force of the rear wheels and provides the feel of rear-wheel-drive maneuverability, straight-line stability, and responsive acceleration.

The cabin

Soft-touch materials and additional warm steel-color accents, an 8-way power adjustable driver, and a front passenger seat are standard across all grades. Adjustments on the front seats include slide, recline, tilt, height adjustment, and lumbar support (driver seat only). Ample cushioning and bolster support have been added to the rear seat for improved comfort.

The interior design of the 2024 Toyota Crown Hybrid

The Toyota Crown comes with standard heated front seats that can be adjusted to three levels. Limited and Platinum add standard ventilated front seats and heated rear seats to the list of comforts. The seats offer comfort and style, with Softex®-trimmed and black woven fabric seating on the XLE, and leather-trimmed seats standard on the Limited and Platinum grades.

Dual-zone climate control is standard on all grades and is accessed via a thin illuminated control panel that runs along the dashboard, just below the multimedia screen, along with other frequently used functions. All Toyota Crown grades also have a 12.3-inch color MID. Drivers can select different displays with the push of a button, including a Hybrid System Indicator showing the driver system output and regeneration status to encourage eco-driving habits. As used on other Toyota hybrid models, the display suggests optimal amounts of acceleration for eco-driving.

Toyota Crown Platinum and Limited grades include a standard fixed panoramic moonroof. For added function and ambiance, in-cabin LED lighting adds a premium feel. Illumination includes overhead and front/rear footwell lighting, cup holders, USB ports, and door handle accents. Toyota Crown has drivers and passengers plugged in when it comes to charging devices. On the driver’s side, a vertical-type wireless Qi charger with enhanced space efficiency comes standard. There is also a standard USB Type A and 12V charging port inside the console. A separate dual USB-Type C terminal is also standard on the passenger side, with the insertion port intentionally pointing to the passenger seat. For rear seat passengers, two USB-Type C ports are standard.

To aid outward visibility, the Platinum grade comes standard with a Panoramic View Monitor, which provides a 360-degree overhead view of the vehicle’s surroundings. Built on the TNGA-K platform

The 2024 Toyota Crown is built on the TNGA-K platform.  TNGA-K platform is the first defense against noise intrusion, curbing vibration through the steering, floor, and structure. Suspension tuning resists road surface disturbances and tire noise is reduced via strategically placed insulation and thoughtful tire/wheel construction. Engineers also undertook extensive analysis of noise transmission paths and filled spaces around door frames, window openings, and wiring harnesses for enhanced cabin quietness. Even the inner rocker and bulkhead are connected with adhesive to minimize noise.

Infotainment system and multimedia in the 2024 Toyota Crown

All 2024 Toyota Crown models feature the Toyota Audio Multimedia system. A 12.3-inch touchscreen display that offers a wide range of connectivity and convenience including over-the-air (OTA) updates is available. Users can wake the intelligent assistant with a simple phrase like “Hey Toyota”.

In addition, the cloud-based native navigation system also offered through Drive Connect allows for real-time Over-the-Air updates for mapping and Points of Interest (POI), and Google POI data is integrated to ensure up-to-date search capability.

The entry XLE grade comes standard with a 6-speaker sound system that provides clean, powerful sound for all types of music. A specially tuned JBL Premium Audio System with 11 speakers, including a rear subwoofer, powered by an 8-channel amplifier is standard on the Limited and Platinum grade.

Toyota Audio Multimedia allows for simultaneous dual Bluetooth® phone connectivity with support for wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Autoâ„¢ capability. An active Wi-Fi Connect* trial or subscription offers 4G connectivity for up to five devices. Adding to the already robust offering of audio playback ability with HD Radio, USB data, and a SiriusXM® Platinum Plan 3-month trial subscription, Wi-Fi Connect also enables the Integrated Streaming feature, providing the ability to link your separate Apple Music® and Amazon Music subscriptions to the vehicle for onboard control. 30 day/3 GB trial included.

The Toyota Crown also offers a host of additional Connected Services. A Safety Connect* trial of up to 10 years includes an Emergency Assistance Button (SOS), 24/7 Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and Stolen Vehicle Locator. A Service Connect* trial of up to 10 years provides drivers with the capability of receiving Vehicle Health Reports, Maintenance Alerts, and reminders.

All grades include a 1-year trial for Remote Connect*. With an active Remote Connect trial or subscription, a Digital Key is standard on the Platinum grade and available as part of a 1-year trial with the Advanced Technology package on the Limited grade. If equipped, Digital Key allows for driver access via the Toyota app to unlock the doors and trunk or start the vehicle using a smartphone as a key. Digital Key also provides the ability to share keys with friends and family.

Safety and driver assistance systems in the 2024 Toyota Crown

All 2024 Toyota Crowns are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0). The safety suite includes:

Safety systems in the 2024 Toyota Crown Hybrid in Nigeria
  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection: Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD) is designed to help detect a vehicle, pedestrian, bicyclist, or motorcyclist and provide an audio/visual forward collision warning under certain circumstances. If you don’t react, the system is designed to provide automatic emergency braking.
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: Intended for highway use, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is an adaptive cruise control system that is designed to be set at speeds above 20 mph and uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control to help maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead of you.
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist: When white/yellow lane markings or certain road edge boundary lines are detected at speeds above 30 mph, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) is designed to issue an audio/visual lane departure warning if an inadvertent lane departure is detected. If the driver does not take corrective action, the system is also designed to provide gentle corrective steering for lane-keeping assistance.
  • Lane Tracing Assist: When Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is enabled and lane markers are detected, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) uses the lines on the road and/or preceding vehicles to provide active driving assistance and help keep the vehicle centered in its lane.
  • Road Sign Assist: Using an intelligent camera, Road Sign Assist (RSA) is designed to detect speed limit signs, stop signs, Do Not Enter signs, yield signs, and certain warning signs, and display an icon of the sign on the Multi-Information Display (MID).
  • Automatic High Beams: The Automatic High Beams (AHB) are designed to help you see more clearly at night at speeds above 21 mph. The AHB system is designed to detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles, then automatically toggle between high and low beams accordingly.
  • Proactive Driving Assist: When system operating conditions are met, using the vehicle’s camera and radar, this system provides gentle braking into curves or gentle braking and/or steering to help support driving tasks such as distance control between your vehicle and a preceding vehicle, pedestrian or bicyclist.

In addition to the TSS 3.0 system, standard convenience features on the Crown include a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), which is designed to help detect and warn you of vehicles approaching or positioned in the adjacent lanes, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) for added peace of mind by helping to detect vehicles approaching from either side while backing out and alerting you with a visual and audible warning.

Standard on the Platinum grade is Toyota’s Advanced Park System. Sensors identify an open parking space, and then once selected by the driver, the system controls steering, shifting, acceleration, and braking for hands-free parallel or reverse/forward perpendicular parking. Traffic Jam Assist, Front-Cross Traffic Alert, and Lane Change Assist are also now standard on the Platinum grade and available through the Advanced Tech package on the Limited grade.

Toyota’s Rear Seat Reminder comes standard on all Toyota Crown grades. The feature can note whether a rear door was opened after the vehicle has been turned on, with a reminder message in the instrument cluster after the engine is turned off, accompanied by multitone chimes.
