The design

The new McLaren Artura Spider hybrid builds on the unique McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) that underpins every Artura. The new Sider retains the coupe model’s stiffness, even without its fixed roof. When compared with the Artura Coupe, the new Spider Hybrid weighs an additional 62 kg more than the Coupe, the additional weight can be traced to its Retractable Hard Top.

The design of the McLaren Artura Spider

The Retractable Hard Top made from composite carbon fiber can be configured with electrochromic glass, which provides the cabin with daylight- or up to 95% shade with the touch of a button. The new 2025 McLaren Artura Spider has a dry weight of just 1,457 kg, the best in its class.

Engine, hybrid system, and performance

For the 2025 model year, the new McLaren Artura Spider produces an additional 20PS of power, thanks to its recalibrated 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine. A combined power output of 700PS is achieved when the 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine combines with the in-house built flux E-motor that generates 95PS.

The new McLaren Artura Spider is a beast on the road, thanks to its lightweight, instant electric torque, and high power. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds, and 200 km/h in just 8.4 seconds, with a maximum speed of 205 mph. McLaren also increased the pure EV range of the supercar from 31 to 33 km, that’s quite impressive.

The hard top, cooling, and aerodynamics

Aside from designing a more powerful variant of the Artura, McLaren also redesigned the airflow system to support engine cooling when the Retractable Hard Top is folded above the powertrain. Behind the cabin, the new flying buttresses include incredible glazed sections that aid rear visibility but also double as channels for airflow into the engine bay. At the rear of the hybrid supercar is a one-piece bodywork that channels cold air into the engine bay and accelerates hot air from the repositioned “chimney” away from the bodywork. The windshield surround has also been redesigned to reduce buffeting in the cabin when the roof is down.

McLaren also enhanced the soundtrack of the Artura Spider with a revised exhaust system, including a new tuned resonator and new tailpipes for true engine notes to be cleaner and more engaging from both sides. The system also uses valves to regulate the sound characteristics, allowing the exhaust note to be more reserved at cruising speeds and full voice beyond 2,500 rpm. An optional sports exhaust, offering even more driver engagement, is also available.

The cabin of the 2025 McLaren Artura Spider retains its driver-focused design. The steering wheel remains free of buttons and the controls to select the Handling and Powertrain modes are at the drivers’ fingertips.
