Design and aerodynamics
The design and aerodynamics of the Imola Roadster were inspired by the Huayra R. Pagani engineers addressed the radiators and the dynamics of interior airflows to cool the powerful engine as well as improve the supercar’s reliability and performance. This cooling is achieved by enlarging two front air intakes and the dual outlet for warm air.
The openings on the wheel arches provide many advantages, such as reducing pressure under the front end to benefit aerodynamic stability and improve airflow towards the rear aerodynamic appendages.
Pagani also updated the body of the taillights and added new air vents to extract hot air from the wheel arch at the same time. This addition improves the cooling of the rear brakes, optimizes the downward force that pushes the vehicle toward the ground, and increases rod-holding.
Aerodynamics
Pagani designed every line and surface of the Imola Roadster to attain 600 kg of downforce at 280 km/h to guarantee improved safety and reliability. This was achieved by concentrating on achieving a balance between the sophisticated system of interior air flows and an exterior profile that would generate downforce in any driving condition.
Chassis and materials used
The chassis of the Imola Roadster is made in Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62, which is finer than ever, offering the driver a race-car experience and improved safety.
It weighs just 1,260 kg, thanks to the structural principles and innovative composite material used in building the vehicle.
Handling and suspension
The Pagani Imola Roadster debuted with top-notch handling, thanks to its four flaps which move independently from one another. These flaps adapt to driving needs to offset pitch when braking and roll when cornering.
Standard across all grades is the independent double wishbone suspension system made from aluminum alloy, helical springs, and electronic shock absorbers. The new technological advancement effectively reduces the effects of dive, squat, and roll, providing the driver with enhanced control and improved safety.
Engine, transmission, and performance
Powered by a 5,980 cc Pagani V12 engine specially designed by Mercedes-AMG for Pagani, the Imola Roadster generates 850 horsepower and a maximum torque output of 1,100 Nm. Power generated by the high-performance V12 engine is transferred to the road via the Pagani gearbox by Xtrac seven-speed transversal sequential gearbox known for its smooth responsiveness.
Exhaust system
The six-pipe exhaust system is standard on the Imola Roadster. This exhaust system is derived from the brand’s testing at the track. The pipes are crafted from titanium and coated with ceramic using a sophisticated plasma-fusion system, it becomes lighter and ensures more efficient heat dissipation.
Wheels and tires
At the front of the hypercar is a 265/30 R20 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, while the rear features a bigger 355/25 R21 tires for an unprecedented level of grip and performance on the road.
