Toyota has unveiled the all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4, marking its transition to the sixth generation. The model is available in three new designs for the USA market, including Core, Rugged, and Sport styles. The model is also available in a choice of Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). Powertrains
The all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 HEV debuted with great hybrid powertrains with an available front- or all-wheel drive system. All grades are powered by a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine with the fifth-generation hybrid system. The hybrid system combines power from a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine with two electric motors and a high-capacity traction battery. Toyota adopted silicon carbide semiconductors in the front axle to achieve miniaturization and high efficiency, as well as increase the electric mile range. XSE and Woodland edition grades come with available DC fast charging. The SE and GR SPORT PHEV models are equipped with a 1772 charging port. Customers can also charge from home or with standard public chargers, with up to an 11-kW AC onboard charger available.
Towing capacity on the model has significantly increased for the 2026 model year. The HEV XLE, Woodland, SE, XSE, Limited, and PHEV SE, XSE, and Woodland grades with AWD can tow up to 3,500 pounds. All FWD models and the LE AWD model can tow up to a 1,750-pound towing capacity.
The new design of the 2026 Toyota RAV4
The new sixth-generation 2026 Toyota RAV4 has been redesigned from the ground up. It offers improved structural rigidity, thanks to its Toyota New Generation Architecture-K (TNGA-K) platform. This platform received structural rigidity increases due to reinforcement of the frame joints and the suspension mounting points, offering improved handling and ride comfort. All grades also featured high-damping adhesive that reduces micro-vibrations and road noise.
On the outside, the new RAV4 is characterized by large tires and a highly usable cargo area. The side fender flares give it a wide stance and chiseled door panels. More beauty is added to the model, thanks to its stylish new LED signature taillights, giving it a tech-forward feel, while also adding a sense of width.
The cabin wasn’t left out in the redesign, it now offers a harmonious blend of comfort and user-friendly technology. Various functions have been grouped on the center stack, including the touchscreen display, drive mode selection, and storage for a smartly organized space. The center console houses the shifter, cup holder with removable divider, and arm rest/ storage bin with a two-way closure. Some grades also feature Toyota’s new shift-by-wire system, with a minimalist toggle switch that has intuitive operation.
Available grades for the 2026 model year
The 2026 RAV4 is available in a variety of grades for different purposes and comfort levels. The entry FWD is available on hybrid LE, XLE, and SE grades for the first time, while the AWD system is offered on all grades.
All grades are equipped with a slim 10.5-inch touchscreen, giving the cockpit a clean and modern feel; a 12.9-inch is also available at an additional cost. At the bottom of the touchscreen display is a new digital HVAC control for easy access. A new standard 12.3-inch digital cluster brings integrated multimedia information to their fingertips, as well as more customization features. A Head-Up Display is available on Limited (HEV) and XSE (PHEV) grades. All grades also benefit from the standard six-speaker audio system. Customers who desire a more immersive audio listening experience can opt for the optional nine-speaker BL Premium Audio System.
Customers can choose between fabric or SofTex seats with available seating colors like black, light gray, or the new Mineral color on the Woodland. The new Woodland interior also adds other touches of a vibrant outdoor-inspired cabin.
Exterior color options
A range of exterior color options is available for the 2026 model year. A new available Urban Rock exterior paint color is now exclusive to the grade. Meteor Shower, Everest, and Storm Cloud colors joined the RAV4 color palette. The Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, Midnight Black Metallic, Ruby Flare Pearl, and Blueprint also made a comeback.
New technology features on the 2026 Toyota RAV4
The all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 is equipped with Arene, an all-new software development platform created by Woven by Toyota. This new software is the foundation for the company’s most advanced safety, security, and connectivity.
All grades are also equipped with the newest version of the Toyota Audio Multimedia system, which is enabled by Arene. The new system is paired with a touchscreen display and supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and dual Bluetooth phone connectivity as standard. Native Voice Assistant has also been improved significantly in the model, with quicker response times. The new digital cluster also received native map and navigation.
Safety and driver assistance systems
The all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 is the first model to receive the Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 (TSS 4.0) system powered by the new Arene software development platform. The new version of Toyota’s standard active safety suite received a variety of hardware and software updates, offering improved detection capabilities.
