The civilian model began in part because of the persistence of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who saw an Army convoy while filming <strong><em>Kindergarten Cop<\/em><\/strong> in Oregon and began to lobby for a civilian version to be available on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/sellatease.com\/public-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2015_MCAS_Beaufort_Air_Show_041215-M-CG676-161.jpg\" alt=\"the original Military Humvee \" class=\"wp-image-6370\" style=\"width:600px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>The original Military Humvee on which the Hummer is based. Photo credit: Wikipedia<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The civilian version of the M998 Humvee vehicle was first sold in 1992, with the first two Hummer H1s purchased by Schwarzenegger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"_GM_purchase\"><\/span><strong>&nbsp;GM purchase<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">General Motors acquired the brand name in December 1997. GM was responsible for the marketing and distribution of all civilian Hummers produced by AM General.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;GM introduced two of its design, the H2, and H3, and renamed the original vehicle H1. The production of H1 ended in 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;By 2006, Hummer began to be exported and sold through importers and distributors in 33 countries.
