Biography
Victor James Osimhen was born on 29 December 1998 in Lagos to Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Osimhen. He is the last child of the family, he has six siblings. Victor is from the Esan tribe in the South-East of Edo State. The striker lost his father on 24 May 2020 at 80 years after a sickness. He announced the passing away on his Twitter handle.
Football career
Osimhen started his football career at the Ultimate Strikers Academy in Lagos. In 2016, his notable performance at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup earned him the CAF Youth Player of the Year award in 2015 as well as a pre-contract with VfL Wolfsburg, meaning he would officially join the club in January 2017.
He officially signed a three and half year contract with the club on 5th January 2017. His debut was prolonged by an injury he sustained earlier until 13 May when he made his Bundesliga debut for Wolfsburg.
Fast forward to 2020, Serie A club Napoli announced the signing of Osimhen, for a club-record fee of 70 million Euros potentially rising to 80 million Euros with add-ons, this made him the most expensive African transfer to date. On 17 October, Osimhen scored his first goal for Napoli in a 4–1 win against Atalanta. Upon scoring, he held up a shirt calling for the ending of the ongoing police brutality in his home country of Nigeria.
On 4th May 2023, Victor Osimhen scored the winning goal to crown FC Napoli the winners of Scudetto title after 33 years. He is being celebrated worldwide by FC Napoli and Nigerians for achieving such a feat.
