Blaqbonez was born on 29 January 1996, to an Igbo family, and grew up exposed to the Yoruba and Urhono culture in Nigeria. The rapper hails from Imo State Nigeria, a State dominated by the Igbo people. Emeka bagged a degree in Computer Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
His rap journey
His journey into the rap world started at the age of 13 when he discovered he could rap. He discovered his talent while listening to the radio with his cousin when the song of a 12-year-old rapper was played. His cousin liked the song and challenged Blaqbonez to come up with his lyrics since he liked criticizing rappers. A few minutes after the challenge, he had more than enough bars for a verse, and that was where it began.
His journey into the rap world hit a major setback since his parents didn’t like it, and he had to pursue his passion secretly. Blaqbonez dropped his project, Hip Hop in Blaq while in school. In 2012, he beat over 3000 rappers to win Terry Tha Rapman’s Zombie Competition. Blaqbonez was featured on Terry’s 2012 mixtape titled “World Domination” alongside top Nigerian musicians including Olamide, Vector, Mode 9, and Spellz that same year.
Blaqbonez won the Rhythm FM Freestyle Fury and became the radio station’s artiste of the month.
