It was first introduced as S 500 and S 600 models. It debuted with a 4.7L engine, its 4MATIC option included a V8 and V12 engine for the latter.

In 2017, the facelifted S 600 was discontinued, it was replaced with the S 650. The new S 650 was available in a Pullman version.
The Pullman version is a chauffeur-driven sedan that includes a partition-separated ultra-luxurious rear passenger compartment with two sets of paired facing seats. Pullman was equipped with a V12 dual-turbocharger gasoline engine, a seven-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive. Its also available as an armored version, known as the Pullman Guard.
Mercedes introduced the Maybach S 680 in 2017 for the 2018 model year. It was produced only for the Chinese market. It had the same features as the S 650.
The twelve-cylinder V12 engine produces 463kw of power and torque of 738lb-ft.
