The new electric powertrain
The new electric 2025 Mercedes-Benz G 580 is powered by four electric motors that produce 145 hp each placed close to the wheels. They are integrated into the ladder frame- two in each housing at the front and rear axles. A total of 579 hp and 859 lb-ft of torque is produced by the four electric motors. In conjunction with ESP® and the central powertrain control (CPC), drive torque is intelligently distributed to optimize traction.
The G 580 with EQ Technology accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, with its top speed electronically limited to 112 mph.
Virtual differential locks
The all-new electric G-Class adopts torque vectoring to generate virtual differential locks. This technology makes it possible to precisely send torque to individual wheels. - D-: strong recuperation with increased deceleration during coasting
- D–: highest level of recuperation with maximum deceleration during coasting
Safety concept and special underbody protection
Mercedes-Benz developed a range of multi-stage high-voltage protection concepts for its electric vehicles to prevent shocks and high-energy circuits. This comprises of eight essential elements for the safety of the battery, including a self-monitoring high-voltage system that switches off automatically in the event of a serious collision.
Underneath the electric off-road SUV is an underbody protection that safeguards the battery and other important components from stones, dust, and sand. The underbody protection is made from an intelligent material mix that includes carbon for increased rigidity compared to steel or aluminum.
