For the 2023 model year, Toyota Crown is available in three builds which include XLE, Limited, and Platinum. All models feature improved fuel consumption, improved standard safety systems, new and upgraded infotainment systems, and increased power output.

 Engine, transmission, and hybrid system

Two engine options are available on the 2023 Toyota Crown hybrid. The XLE and Limited grade comes standard with the 2.5-Liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder DOHC 16 Valve D-4S Dual-injection engine which produces 184 hp at 6000 rpm and torque output of 163 lb-ft at 5200 rpm. The engine combined with the hybrid system to produce a net power output of 236 hp.

The Platinum grade features a Hybrid MAX 2.4-Liter inline 4-Cylinder turbocharged Hybrid DOHC 16-Valve D-4S Dual Injection with Dual VVT-I engine which produces 264 hp at 6000 rpm and torque of 332 lb-ft at 2000 – 3000 rpm. Both the engine and the hybrid system produce a net power of 340 hp, that’s impressive.

 Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT) is standard on the XLE and the Limited grade, while the Platinum utilizes the Direct Shift-6AT 6-speed automatic transmission.

Wheels

The Platinum grade comes standard with 21-inch 10-spoke machined-finish alloy wheels with black accents while the XLE and Limited grade features 19-inch multi-spoke machined-finish two-tone alloy wheels.

The line also has 21-inch 10-spoke dark metallic alloy wheels as an option.

Toyota redesigned the exterior of the Crown hybrid to offer the same luxury as the Avalon as well as increase its aerodynamics. Heated power outside mirrors with turn signal and blind spot warning indicators, puddle lights, and power-folding feature, Acoustic noise-reducing windshield and driver and front passenger side windows, High Solar EnergyAbsorbing (HSEA) glass, Color-keyed outside door handles with touch-sensor lock/unlock feature, LED taillights and stop lights, and LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) are standard across all grades.

Features exclusive to the Limited and Platinum grade include Rain-sensing variable intermittent windshield wipers, Quad-LED projector low- and high-beam headlights, Automatic High Beams (AHB) and auto on/off, and Panoramic fixed-glass roof with power sunshade.

Battery and type

The 2023 Toyota Crown Hybrid XLE, Limited, and Platinum all come with a Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) 230.4 volts battery for the smooth running of the electric motors.

Fuel economy

The XLE and Limited grades come with 42/41/41 MPG, while the Platinum grade comes with 29/32/30 MPG.
