Innovative protection concept featuring BMW Protection core
Standard across all BMW i7 and 7 Series Protection is the new BMW Protection Core which is factored into the development of the new 7 Series range. The entire supporting structure of the luxury sedan is constructed from armor steel for the first time. It forms a self-supporting protective cell which is then combined with protection-spec doors, armoring for the underbody, and safety glass.
The roof and the underbody have been designed to offer maximum protection against explosives. With the VR9 armor level, the occupants are also protected from drone attacks with explosive charges and fragments dispersed by hand grenades on detonation.
Also standard on the armored sedan is the self-sealing tank feature. The tank’s casing automatically closes breaches made by the impact of the bullet and thus prevents loss of fuel. This is amazing.
Spacious cabin, less weight, and more agility
BMW designed the armored 7 series to look exactly like the normal 7 Series to avoid unnecessary suspicion. Both the armored and the non-armored features the same level of room and seating comfort on board.
The increase in performance and agility is brought about by optimized weight. Both offer high steering precision, excellent cornering dynamics, and outstanding figures for acceleration and top speed.
2024 BMW i7 Protection: Zero tailpipe emission and high performance
The all-electric BWM i7 Protection brings electric mobility to the protection vehicle segment for the first time. It is powered by two electric motors: one strategically placed at the front axle and one at the rear axle to create an all-wheel-drive setup. The motors generate a total system power output of 544 hp and a maximum system torque of 549 lb-ft.
The all-electric armored sedan attains 100 kn/h in 9.0 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 160 km/h.
BMW 7 Series Protection
Standard on the petrol version of the 2024 BMW 7 Series is the latest generation 4.4-litre V8 engine which generates a maximum power output of 530 hp and peak torque of 533 lb-ft. Its BMW TwinPower Turbo technology includes an upgraded turbocharging system with an electrically operated blow-off valve and indirect charge air cool, along with a cross-bank exhaust manifold. Power delivery and efficiency are optimized by the 48V mild hybrid technology.
Power is sent to the four wheels by the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system. It attains 100 km/h from rest in just 6.6 seconds, with a top speed of 210 km/h.
Modified chassis for improved safety and convenience
BMW modified and tuned the protection models to make allowance for the additional weight resulting from their special protection features. The tuning also aided in bringing about precisely controllable handling, even when they are being driven hard, such as when escaping from an attack.
Integral Active Steering and 20-inch light alloy wheels with exclusive PAX tires
The new BMW i7 and 7 Series Protection are the first and only protection vehicles in their segments to be fitted with Integral Active Steering. This feature reduces the car’s turning circle when maneuvering, and increases precision, and dynamic response through corners at high speed. It also enhances driving comfort for rear-seat passengers.
The standard on the 7 Series Protection is the 20-inch light alloy wheels. A powerful braking system also enhances the ride comfort, traction, and directional stability. All grades also come standard with specially developed PAX tires supplied by Michelin in the dimensions of 255-740 R5 10, they are equipped with a run-flat ring, which allows the car to continue its journey at up to 80 km/h even in the event of a total loss of pressure.
Improved driver assistance systems in the 2024 BMW 7 Series Protection
The new BMW i7 and 7 Series Protection are equipped with an extensive selection of driver assistance systems. These systems support the driver with information and warnings, without actively intervening to control the vehicle.
The Protection Grades also features all the cameras available for the luxury sedan. These cameras provide precise and detailed information on the area around the vehicle in all situations.
Luxury cabin features
To optimize visibility in low ambient temperatures in the cabin, BMW added an electric heating function for both the windscreen and the front sections of the side windows as standard, while Model-specific pre-heating is available as an option. Also standard on the model is the motorized assistance for closing and closing the door.
Multifunction seats, BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery, seat heating, and ventilation are all available as standard to add more comfort to the model. Customers who desire more convenience at the rear can add the optional cool box integrated between the rear seats to keep drinks chilled. The massage function is optional across all grades.
Exterior styling
For the 2024 model, the armored grade comes standard with an illuminated BMW kidney Iconic Glow and the BMW crystal headlights Iconic Glow.
BMW iDrive with BMW Curved Display
Both armored models are equipped with the latest generation of BMW iDrive based on BMW Operating System 8.5 complete with the BMW Curved Display. The system is designed with the drivers in mind.
Optional across all grades is a camera-based additional interior mirror. This feature shows an image feed from the Reversing Assist Camera in the control display at the touch of a button. Communication in the cabin has also been improved by the standard-fitted intercom system which allows the occupants to communicate with people on the outside.
Additional protection measures for a variety of attack scenarios
Both models feature a wide range of equipment offered as standard and optionally for improved protection in attack scenarios of various types. The new BMW i7 Protection and new BMW 7 Series Protection can be designed to fit any purpose. Available items on the grade include a fresh-air supply system, a fire extinguishing system, flashing lights, radio transceivers, and flag poles for when the car is on official duty, plus other special customer-specific options.

The 2024 BMW 7 Series Protection comes with a fuel consumption combined WLTP cycle of 15.6 l/ 100 km and CO2 emission of 355 g/km.
