For the 2025 model year, Honda refreshed the 11th generation Civic to offer more styling, technology, and power, thanks to the available two-motor hybrid powertrain. The new hybrid is now at the top of the range and expected to receive an EPA combined fuel economy rating nearing 50 mpg. The hybrid grades will be available in either a sedan or hatchback. Honda Civic is the company’s longest-running automotive with over 12 million units sold in America since 1973. This record puts it in the top three best-selling passenger cars in America over the past 51 years. The 11th generation Civic is now America’s most popular vehicle with Gen Z buyers as of 2024.

Available trims

Four trim levels will be available on the 2025 Honda Civic lineup, they include LX trim which is available in sedan only, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid. The company projects the hybrid grade to represent about 40% of Civic sales as a key step in the company’s electrification strategy.

Release date

The refreshed 2025 Honda Civic will hit Honda dealerships in June, while the Civic hatchback will arrive later in the summer.

Engine, transmission, and performance

The new Civic hybrid-electric trims deliver a combined power output of 200 horsepower and combined torque output of 232 lb-ft, this makes it the most powerful non-Type R Civics ever, providing quick, effortless acceleration while receiving an outstanding EPA fuel economy rating. Honda equipped the hybrid grades with two large and powerful electric motors that deliver efficiency without compromising dynamic performance or passenger and cargo space.

Four levels of regenerative braking deceleration are also available through selector paddles on the steering wheel. The multiple levels are designed to provide a wide range of control during deceleration.

Furthermore, Honda optimized the Civic hybrid with unique spring and damper tuning, and a specifically-developed tire to offer an unmatched driving feel. The hybrid trims also enjoy the lowest NVH levels in the Civic lineup, with a robust noise reduction package that includes Active Noise Control on all hybrids, and wheel resonators on Sport and Touring trims.

The Civic LX and Sport trims are powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that also delivers unmatched performance.

Drive modes

Honda equipped the refreshed Civic with a wide range of selectable drive modes to optimize the driving experience for various conditions. Available drive modes include Econ, Normal, and Sport (Sport and hybrid trims only). These modes feature pre-set performance settings for powertrain response, steering assist level, and gauge cluster layout.

A new Individual mode is now standard on the 2025 Honda Civic Sport Touring that allows for more customization of the driving experience.

A refreshed exterior design 

As we mentioned earlier, the exterior of the 2025 Honda Civic received some new features that make it stand out. New exterior features include an aggressive front fascia and grille, and a new darker taillights exclusive to the sedan trims. The top-of-the-range hybrid grade is equipped with a distinct body-colored headlamp garnish and front lower spoiler.

Exterior color options

Four new exterior color options have been added to the Civic’s color palette for the 2025 model year, they include Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Gray Pearl, Blue Lagoon Pearl (exclusive to Civic sedan), and Sand Dune Pearl (exclusive to the Civic Hatchback).

Wheels

Standard on the Sport trim is a dark trim and black 18-inch wheels. The top-of-the-line Sport Touring Hybrid received a new machined-finished wheel design as standard.

The cabin of the new Civic was not left out. For the 2025 model year, all Hybrid models are now available with a gray interior color. Standard on the Sport Hybrid grade is moonroof, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate.

The Sport Touring Hybrid grade also adds leather seating, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and intuitive technology, including a larger 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™ compatibility and a wireless smartphone charger.

Front USB-C ports are now standard across the 2025 Civic lineup.

Google built-in

The top-of-the-range Sport Touring Hybrid is equipped with Civic’s first integration of Google built-in. This includes apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and more on Google Play for a helpful, personalized, and connected driving experience with a complimentary 3-year unlimited data plan.

Google Assistant can help users get things done while keeping their eyes on the road and their on the wheel. Drivers can easily call a friend, text, control media etc wi,th just their voice.

Safety systems on the 2025 Honda Civic

The 11th generation Civic is a safety leader in the compact class, thanks to advanced active and passive safety technology that comes standard on every Civic. This safety suite includes Honda’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure designed to help protect occupants in a wide variety of frontal collisions, along with advanced supplemental restraint systems.

Civic’s driver and passenger front airbags were designed to minimize the potential for severe brain trauma associated with angled frontal collisions. The front driver’s airbag uses an innovative donut-shaped structure to cradle and cradle the head to reduce rotation.  The passenger-side front airbag uses a three-chamber design with two outer chambers designed to achieve a similar result. All Civic models also feature pre-tensioning front seatbelts, and front, side, knee, and side-curtain airbags.  Based on Honda’s long-standing “Safety for Everyone” approach, which focuses on advancing safety for everyone sharing the road, all Civic models are equipped with the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies, which includes Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Pedestrian Detection; Forward Collision Warning; Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW); Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS); and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). All Sport models are now also equipped with Blind Spot with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
