What’s new for the 2027 model year?
For the 2027 model year, the ES 350e shares the same platform as the ES 500e and the hybrid ES 350h, but the hybrid variant features minor model-specific details.
The 2027 ES 350e is powered by a single electric motor paired with a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) system. Customers who desire more performance and power can opt for the ES 500e featuring dual electric motors (one in the front and one at the rear) and an All-wheel drive system (AWD). Both share a 74.4-kWh lithium-ion battery.
All grades are equipped with a new 12.3-inch driver Multi-Information Display, as well as the latest Lexus Interface infotainment system with a 14.0-inch touchscreen. Safety wasn’t left out; all grades are equipped with the newest Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 (LSS+ 4.0) active safety and convenience feature suite.
An optional Executive package is also available. This package adds outboard seats with power adjustments, heating and ventilation functions, a massage feature, and an ottoman on the passenger side.
Exterior design
The new Lexus ES is built on the TNGA-K platform with the 74.7-kh lithium-ion battery pack placed beneath the passenger compartment and drive motors at the front and rear axles for the ES 500e. The hybrid ES 350h includes a fuel tank and hybrid battery beneath the rear seat.
At the front of the luxury sedan is an L-shaped LED running light placed above the Dual LED headlights and flanked by the Lexus’ spindle grille design. The eighth generation is larger than its predecessor; the BEV features a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase and an additional 2.2 inches of width. Its length and height have also been increased by 6.5 inches and 4.5 inches respectively.
All grades are equipped with electronic door latch release as standard and include Safety Exit Assist, designed to alert occupants to approaching traffic. All electric models also add a soft-close feature for more convenience. The minimal design helps achieve a low 0.25 drag coefficient.
Wheels
Standard across all grades are 19-inch aluminum wheels. 21-inch multi-spoke wheels are available as an option on the ES 350e, while the ES 500e features 21-inch wheels with an aerodynamic spoke design.
Exterior color options
New colors joined the palette for the 2027 model year; they include Wavelength and Copper Crest, giving customers a wide option to choose from. Lexus also carried over four color options from the 2026 Lexus ES, including e Caviar, Ultra White, Cloudburst Gray, and Iridium.
Interior design of the 2027 Lexus ES
The cabin of the new ES features premium design, premium materials, and new technology. ES 350e and ES 500e premium are finished with e NuLuxe®- trimmed seating and embossed door panel accents and micro-geometric pattern dashboard trim, as well as Thematic Ambient Illumination.
Luxury trims also received semi-aniline leather-trimmed seating and Thematic Ambient Illumination with Bamboo Layering, a new LED-backlit layered bamboo wood-trimmed door panel design, along with a bamboo-trimmed center console.
On the dashboard is a 12.3-inch Multi-Information Display; on the side is a toggle shift lever alongside buttons for Park, the electronic parking brake release, and the Brake Hold feature. All grades are equipped with a 14.0-inch touchscreen with the latest Lexus Interface on the dashboard. Memory seat controls are strategically positioned to the left of the steering wheel.
A soft-touch panel is added to the ES 350e and ES 500e; this panel includes buttons for Advanced Park with Remote Park and the Panoramic View Monitor.
The ES 350e also adds the Executive package, which transforms the rear seat into an upscale cocoon with a 4-way power-adjustable seat. This package also adds two additional USB-C ports.
Technology
All grades are equipped with the latest Lexus Interface comprising a 12.3-inch Multi-information display and 14.0-inch touchscreen display as standard. Key menus are accessible via large on-screen tiles and the system supports simultaneous Bluetooth phone connectivity. All BEV models come with an integrated Drive Recorder as well as over-the-air (OTA) updates via remote software for the Lexus Interface system.
Both BEV models come standard with a wireless charger and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Compatibility. Customers can also add a dual front-seat wireless device charger to accommodate more devices.
SmartAccess Keyless entry is standard on every ES 350e and ES 500e for easy access. Luxury trims add Auto Easy Close Soft-close door latching and Digital Key 2.0 capability. This feature enables owners to use their compatible smartphone as a key for their Lexus ES.
A range of connected technologies is available on the 2027 ES BEV models; they include Cloud Navigation, Intelligent Assistant, Remote Connect, Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Wi-Fi Connect.
Sound system
Premium trims offer an immersive audio listening experience, thanks to their 10-speaker Lexus Premium Sound system. Luxury grades offers best in class sound system, including a 17-speaker, 1,800-watt Mark Levinson PurePlay Surround Sound System.
Powertrain, suspension and performance
The 2027 Lexus ES 350e and ES 500e are powered by the same 74.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, located beneath the passenger compartment. A single 221-hp permanent magnet synchronous electric motor powers the front wheel. This setup attains 60 mph from 0 in just 7.4 seconds.
Dual motors, including a 221-hp front motor and a 118-hp permanent magnet synchronous electric motor at the rear, power the 2027 ES 500e. This setup delivers a combined output of 338 hp and attains 60 mph from 0 in just 5.1 seconds. This grade is equipped with a DIRECT4 all-wheel drive (AWD) system for swift and smooth power delivery to the wheels.
Drive Range
When equipped with the standard 19-inch wheels, the ES 350e has a 307-mile EPA estimated total driving range per full charge. The range drops to 292 miles when equipped with optional 21-inch wheels.
On the top-of-the-range ES 500e, it has a 276-mile EPA-estimated total driving range when equipped with the standard 21-inch wheels. When fitted with the optional 21-inch wheels, it drops to 272 miles of total driving range per full charge.
Charging the 2027 Lexus ES
All grades come standard with a power-operated charge port on their passenger-side front fender, behind which is a North American Charging System (NACS) J3400-style charge port.
The onboard 11-Kw AC charger enables Level 2 charging in about 7 hours and Level 3 charging from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 28 minutes under ideal conditions. A dual-voltage AC charging cable supporting Level 1 (120V) and Level 2 (240V) inputs is standard on the ES 350e and ES 500e.
All grades also come with battery preconditioning, which further enhances charging speeds at various ambient temperatures by adjusting the battery pack’s temperature and can be activated directly via the touchscreen or automatically using the cloud navigation feature.
Charging your EV while on the go has been simplified by the enhanced Lexus app, which helps users find the nearest charging stations.
Safety and convenience
Safety wasn’t left out on the new 2027 Lexus ES; all grades are equipped with the Lexus Safety System 4.0 (LSS+ 4.0) for improved safety of both the occupants and other road users. This safety suite is packed with a lot of safety systems, including:
