The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are the eighth generation of the Galaxy S series. Both devices were unveiled on 29 March 2017 to succeed the S7 and S7 Edge, with the North American release on 21 April 2017. Both devices featured upgraded hardware and major design changes over their predecessors, this included a larger screen with a taller aspect ratio and curved sides on recognition, and a new suite of a virtual assistant feature known as Bixby, among other notable features. Display
Both devices feature 1440p OLED displays with an 18.5:9 (37:18) aspect ratio taller than the 16:9 ratio used by the majority of smartphones released until then. The S8 debuted with a 5.8-inch panel while the S8 Plus debuted with a larger 6.2-inch panel. The display on both devices curves along the side bezels of the device with minimal bezels that Samsung markets as an “infinity display”.
Storage/ ROM
Two storage options are available on the S8 Plus: 64GB and 128GB, while the S8 features 64GB of storage only.
RAM
The normal S8 comes with 4GB of RAM while the S9 Plus comes with an option of either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.
Design
In the United States, the S8 series is available in Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, and Arctic Silver color options, gold, and blue are available internationally. Samsung dropped the physical navigation button on the S8 series and adopted on-screen keys.
The device features a rugged design and significantly tougher materials to make it shock, water, and dust resistant.

The Samsung S8 and S8 Plus come standard with 3000 mAh and 3500 mAh non-removable batteries respectively.
Operating system
Both devices featured Android 7.0 (Nougat), which can be upgraded to Android 9.0 (Pie).
