Mercedes Benz unveils electric G-Wagon concept known as EQG
Mercedes Benz has unveiled the electric G Wagon concept ahead of its electrification plan. According to the company “We want to inspire our customers to switch to electric mobility with convincing products. An icon like the G-Class fulfills this task perfectly.” This article will cover the full specifications and estimated pricing of the Mercedes Benz EQG concept in Nigeria.
The production of the G-Class model can be dated back to 1979, for more than four decades, the “G” has embodied the luxury offroad vehicle from Mercedes Benz. The model since its inception has continued with the same body structure, though the company upgrades the model from time to time it’s still the same.

The design of the electric G-Wagon EQG concept
The electric concept still retains the same body, you will recognize the beast at first glance. It adopts the G-Class angular silhouette including its iconic elements. Illuminated strips make the robust exterior protective strips stand out visually.
A two-tone paint finish- gloss black on top, gloss aluminum beam on the boom- runs in the area of the front end directly under the overlying bonnet, thus emphasizing this design feature even more clearly.
The front view of the electric G-Class is familiar, it still retains the typical round headlights. Goodbye to radiator grilles, the new EQG features a continuous deep black radiator grille. The Black Panel grille also features an illuminated star with 3D effects that sets a striking accent. Around it, the animated pattern of “round squares” (squircle pattern) in the familiar blue of the Mercedes-EQ models creates a visual link. An all-around illuminated band wraps the Black Panel, which, alongside the white illuminated circles in the exterior mirror housings, complements the daytime running light graphic of the headlights.
The flat roof rack in high gloss black adds a highlight to the new exterior design. White LED strip integrated into the front edge of the roof rack is a modern interpretation of the searchlight indispensable for demanding off-road adventures. This will give both the driver and occupants a brighter view of the surrounding. Another LED strip in red finish forms the rear end of the roof rack.
Wheels
The electric G-Class features 22-inch polished aluminum alloy wheels in an exclusive design. Its new design does not in any way look like the conventional type.

The spare wheel box at the back has been replaced the box with white illuminated accents on the rear door, whose design is reminiscent of a wall box. The new lockable box could be used t store the charging cable within easy reach.
Body and chassis
The EQG builds on the robust ladder frame. The chassis design remains uncompromising extreme offroad capable with independent suspension on the front axle and a rigid axle at the rear, newly developed for the integration of electric drive.
It features four electric motors close to the wheels and is individually controlled, the SUV will offer unique driving characteristics both on- and off-road. The concept EQG’s off-road reduction can be activated via a shiftable 2-speed gearbox to meet the high “G” specific off-road requirements with confidence.
Release date of the Mercedes Benz EQG G-Wagon concept
There is no release date for now, but I think it will go on sale in 2022.
Price of the new Mercedes Benz EQG concept in Nigeria
It’s still a concept vehicle as it starts now, the price will be unveiled when the production models have been rolled off the production line.
