Mercedes Benz E-Class has been in production since 1953. The E-Class has seen five generations since. Before 1993, the E in the Mercedes Benz nomenclature was a suffix following a vehicle’s model number which stood for Einspritzmotor [German for fuel injection engine]. This review will cover a brief history and price of Mercedes Benz E-Class in Nigeria. E-Class is a broad name for all models with the E prefix. They include E350, E63, etc.
With more than 13 million units sold in 2015, this number makes the E-Class to be one of the best selling models. The First E-Class series was available as a four-door sedan, five-door station wagon, 2-door coupe, and 2 doors convertible.

First-generation W124; 1993-1995
The W124 model debuted with the “E-Class” name first with a facelift in 1993 for the model year 1994.

Second generation W210; 1996-2002
In 2005, Mercedes Benz launched the W210 E-Class, this brought the line firmly into the upper end of the mid-size luxury market.
From 1996, it received many changes compared to the earlier versions of the E-Class, including four large oval headlights, that gave Mercedes an updated image intended to attract more young buyers and women. It was also longer and wider than its predecessor.

It received a facelift in September 1999.
Third generation E-Class W211; 2003-2009
The third generation E-Class was launched in 2002, the W211 E-Class was another evolution of the previous model.

In June 2006 for the 2007 model year to address quality and technical issues raised by earlier models, Sensotronic was dropped, while Pre Safe was made standard. The largest built engine in the E-Class range is the E500 which had engine size increased from 5 Litres to 5.5 liters in 2006.
The AMG models in this generation were badged E55 and E63, AMG as well as other tuning house installations.
Fourth-generation [2010-2016]
The production of the third generation E-Class started in 2009 ahead of the 2010 model year. Official photos were leaked on the internet on 9 December 2008 ahead of its debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.

New features include a blind spot monitor, Lane Keeping Assist, Pre-safe with Attention Assist and Night View Assist Plus.
In 2013, the E-Class was comprehensively facelifted, it features significant styling changes, fuel economy improvements, and updated safety features. Daimler invested 1 billion Euros into the development of the extensive refresh, making it likely the most expensive mid-life facelift in the history of the automobile.
The factory has rated the E63S model at 577 hp/590 tq, there is significant real-world dynamometer testing that indicates the AMG-tuned S model exceeds 600 hp at the flywheel.
The coupe model was first shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, while the convertible was unveiled at the 2010 North American International Auto Show.

Fifth-generation E-Class; 2017-present
The fifth-generation Mercedes Benz E-Class made its first appearance at the 2016 North American International Auto Show. Fifth gen E-Class is curvier and more flowing.

In 2020, Mercedes Benz introduced a facelift to the W213. The body style remained the same. Coming to the interior, the most noticeable change is the steering wheel. It has no buttons, using only touch pads for input, another mode of input is the revolutionary MBUX system touchpad. The base model will have a four-cylinder that is paired to the Mercedes Benz’s 9G TRONIC transmission.
