Toyota has unveiled the all-new 2027 Highlander featuring a striking style, versatility, and electric efficiency. The SUV is the first Toyota model with three rows. On the outside, the SUV features clean lines, broader fenders, full-length LED daytime running lights, and flush handles for unmatched aerodynamics. Two electrified grades are available for the 2027 model year, including the XLE or the top-of-line Limited. The XLE grade is available with in front or electronic all-wheel drive, with the XLE FWD grades powered by a 77.0-kWh battery and a choice of 77.0kWh or 95.8-kWh battery on the XLE AWD grades.

Exterior design
The all-new 2027 Toyota Highlander is built on a modified Toyota Next Generation Architecture-K (TNGA-K) platform developed to house its high-capacity battery and maximize passenger space. Under the car is an underfloor design to enhance airflow underneath, as well as front and rear spats to minimize air turbulence generated around the tires. Noise and vibration have also been isolated from the cabin with the use of noise-absorbing material on the front and rear door trim, front pillar, wheel wells, roof, and underfloor. For even a more serene cabin, acoustic glass is used for the front windshield and front side glass. The SUV has also been lowered, while its wheelbase has been increased to achieve a modern look and balance.
At the front of the beast, the new Toyota’s signature hammerhead design with the use of slim daytime running lights (DRL) housed separately from the main headlights. The sophisticated side profile of the vehicle sweeps rearward from the front end through a sleek, tapered cabin with large windows. Broad fenders are added to enhance its appearance and agility.
All grades also feature a flush door handle, the same as the one found on the 2027 Lexus TZ. The semi-flush door handles with a newly adopted electronic latch help reduce drag, thereby improving their aerodynamic properties. Additionally, a rear spoiler that is smoothly integrated into the rear pillar and black-painted window trim add to its beauty.

The all-new 2027 Highlander is available with an option of single tone and two tone paint option. Single-tone colors include w Spellbound, along with Wind Chill Pearl, Heavy Metal, Everest, Reservoir Blue, and Midnight Black Metallic. Two-tone paint options include pairing Spellbound, Wind Chill Pearl, Heavy Metal, or Everest with a black roof.

The cabin of the all-new 2027 Toyota Highlander is designed to offer comfort, an open feeling, and a tech-forward design. On the dash is a large LED digital gauge cluster with customizable settings, temperature controls with adjustability via hard buttons, and a large slim bezel touchscreen. Standard across all grades is the 64 different color choices to set the perfect mood for a night out on the town and an available Head Up Display (HUD). In a case of emergency, the Safe Exit Assist system with ambient lights on the doors will flash to notify you where to open.
All grades feature new SofTex-trimmed seating with heated first-row seating standard. In addition to this, Limited adds unique textured patterns, front seat ventilation function, and a second row headrest. All grades are equipped with second-row captain’s chairs, with an available bench seat for the XLE AWD grade. The third-row seat provides ample room for two adults and is easily accessible via an electronically assisted one-touch fold button on the second-row seats.
All grades have a standard dual Qi wireless charging tray on the center console and USB-C ports located all across the cabin. Rear occupants also get HVAC controls within reach to reduce the stress of moving to the dash to control it.

Four tailored driving range options are available on the all-new 2027 Toyota Highlander, including:

All grades are fitted with the standard North American Charging System (NCAS) port compatible with Level 3 DC charging stations as standard. Under ideal conditions, the SUV can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes using DC fast charging. Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging are also included, with a dual-voltage 120V/240V charging cable included.
To enhance the lifespan of the battery and its efficiency, Toyota equipped the SUV with a Battery Preconditioning feature. This feature is designed to bring the battery to an optimal temperature for DC fast charging, for faster charging, and also to detect fast charging stations where customers can charge their car.
Advanced technologies
All grades received the latest generation Toyota Audio Multimedia, developed by Toyota. This new system features updated AT&T 5G network connectivity and an intuitive, smartphone-like design that offers customizable widgets on its new home screen. Voice assistant features have also been greatly enhanced to enable faster responses to “Hey Toyota” prompts.
The enhanced touchscreen multimedia system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and simultaneous dual Bluetooth phone connectivity.
Additional technology features include the introduction of SiriusXM® with 360L® and newly available integrated streaming with Spotify, built-in Drive Recorder, and a host of connected services. The connected services include Intelligent Assistant, Cloud Navigation with 3D Maps and Destination Assist, Safety Connect, and Service Connect.
The Digital Key is also available on the 2027 Highlander. This helps drivers to manage functionality with compatible smart devices’ native digital wallet apps such as Apple, Google, or Samsung, including locking, unlocking, starting, and operating their supported Toyota Vehicle.
